International Studies graduate Jethro Waters earned an Emmy Award for Best Documentary in the Cultural category at the Midsouth Emmy Awards 2021 for his film F11 and Be There — exploring civil rights, equality, and art through the photographic legacy of Burk Uzzle.
ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú Music Technology alumni Adam McDaniel ’16 and Alex Farrar ’14 co-founded Drop of Sun Studios, transforming their campus-honed craft into a nationally recognized recording space that continues to mentor students and strengthen Asheville’s creative community through collaboration, innovation, and sound.
ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú alum Sam Shepard ’23 is blazing a trail in medicine and science, now pursuing an MD-PhD through the prestigious Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Institute of Technology program after a ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú foundation that sparked their passion for research and discovery.
ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú alumnus Robin Woodward ’69 established a new scholarship fund for Honors Program STEM students—turning his passion for innovation, mentorship, and community into tangible support that helps future Bulldogs pursue research, internships, and global experiences.
For over 20 years, the AVID for Higher Education Scholarship Program has partnered with Asheville City Schools to provide college access for underrepresented students. Hear from those whose lives were changed by donors’ generosity.
